Was it a wash-out? Not for Airship & Balloon Company's Clients!
Although the weather 'experts' were forecasting wall to wall sunshine and great flying weather at the beginning of the week, by Wednesday they had changed their tune and it looked as though this year's Fiesta would be blown out!
Airship & Balloon Company had both Churchill's iconic nodding Dog and Monster.com's Trump mascot attending and we made the early decision to gear up for a tether-only Fiesta, so our Clients would maximised their publicity opportunities. Pilots Sue and Chris with their experienced Crew, ensured that the balloons were inflated when ever there was a weather window, or TV and Press on site. Our balloons made appearances on Regional and National TV, plus coverage in the Bristol Evening Post and Telegraph online - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/uknews/7942831/Up-up-and-away-hot-air-balloons-soar-at-the-2010-Bristol-International-Balloon-Fiesta.html
We also manged to fly fare-paying passengers in our Public Transport Balloon, on the only two free-flying slots where the organisers allowed round balloons to fly. Sunday evening made for an "interesting" flight with upper winds of 20 knots and a surface wind for our landing at Hengrove Park of 13.9 knots!!
Thanks to the Airship & Balloon Company team who worked so hard for our Clients - see you again at Bristol Balloon Fiesta on August 11, 2011
