Eleven branded hot air balloons managed to tether for three hours, at yesterday's Virgin London Marathon!
Despite the last two weeks of good weather, yesterday's Virgin London Marathon got off to a wet start.
The hot air balloons met on Blackheath Common at 05:30 and Airship & Balloon Company, as organisers of the balloon display, arranged the balloons to ensure that they were visible to runners, spectators and of course our friends at the BBC!
The balloons inflated at 07:30 in light winds, but with the threat of a rainy start - and they were right. At 08:45 it started to drizzle and then the heavens opened. All of the balloons got a soaking - except BT who decided it was more important to keep the kit dry! The motorbike looked sensational, but 'aquaplaned' and Chris, it's pilot - or should that be rider - had to deflate it unexpectedly.
The rain stopped at 09:30 and all the balloons used the next hour to dry the balloons a little and wait for the Mass Start, which was an amazing site.
Congratulations from everyone at Airship & Balloon Company to all of the runners who raised thousands of pounds for charity - we hope we raised a smile and entertained you a little - Oh Yes!!
