In 2008 Mountain Kingdoms became the new name for Himalayan Kingdoms - 21 years after the company was first formed. Himalayan Kingdoms was formed in October 1987, when two mountaineering friends, Steve Berry and Steve Bell rejected conventional careers to make a living from the love of their life – the greatest mountain range in the world.
The reputation of the company as the Himalayan, trekking, touring and mountaineering specialist quickly grew, and in 1993, Himalayan Kingdoms were the first British company to guide Everest, putting seven paying clients, six Sherpas and two guides on the summit
Mike Scholes - North Pole Trek
Mike Scholes became severely sight impaired in November 2007. As a hot air balloon pilot and owner of the Sussex based passenger balloon company, his life changed dramatically when he was no longer able to fly solo.
Mike would like to raise as much money as possible by trekking the last degree of latitude to the North Pole in April 2010. He will be pulling a sledge with his equipment and food over extremely rugged terrain in very cold temperatures. Mike hopes to fly a small balloon at the Pole to show that with the right support and encouragement anything is possible.
